The Town of Hempstead is the largest township (in population) in the United States, encompassing over 142 square miles, with a population of approximately 762,000 people. Within the town there are 34 unincorporated areas and 22 incorporated villages, over 65 parks and marinas, 2,500 miles of city, county, state, and federal roads, 17,000 acres of wetlands and 180 miles of coastal waterways.
